With our book launch coming up on Thursday and a full house signed up to attend, our launch committee has ordered refreshments, flowers, and table arrangements. Some are coming from other states and distant places in Georgia. Rolling Monkey will be here from Statesboro to entertain and manufacture ice cream.
A girl from my high class of 1951 who now lives in North Carolina has a house on Cumberland; we worked together on class reunions over the years. When I called to see if she could make the launch event, I was describing the venue event as a future, special one for weddings.
She said, “Are you proposing to me?”
I said, “I don’t think either one of us could make it down the aisle without falling down.”

Hello everybody, our new books are on hand for the June 11 book launch event and attendance will be over our limit if everyone shows up. The kids are planning pizza, wings, and finger food. The bar will be well stocked, Rolling Monkey will attend to entertain and serve manufactured ice cream, and my #1 GD is arranging for a cake with the cover depicted on it. Visitors will be from Georgia, Florida, South Carolina,and maybe California and North Carolina . Wish you could be here.
Our first podcast on the new book will be this Friday on KMET in Los Angeles, an ABC affiliate radio station.
Did you see the video my grandson took of three year old Charlee watching the live TV interview on NewsMax 2? She got a kick out of it. We expect to get more requests for TV interviews, standing by at parade rest. Jim

Hello everybody, our interview on live TV will be this Friday at 4:30 and last 5 minutes. My understanding is that they want to discuss USNA, the Navy, and leadership. My PR agent will call us in the morning to check my office setting and rehearse a few talking points.
Do you have any key points you would like me to cover? This will be a much faster interview than I'm used to having, and I would hate to omit anything important. Please get back to me with your ideas.
We now have over 60 signed up for our book signing, and we have newspaper interview coming up next week.

Wellborn comment: A possible key point: Even after our Navy and Marine Corps commitment is fulfilled, almost all of us lead lives of service to others. Strong marriages, good families and keeping our brotherhoods of classmate.
Peerenboom comment: You might mention that in our day the Attrition rate was almost 30%. Today it is very small - lower than 5% - an effort is made to KEEP people. In our day the opposite was true - they looked for ways to get rid of us.

Hello everybody, progress report!!!
We approved the layout of the book and placement of the photos today and requested the next step, a proof copy of the finished product, our book. Once we approve the proof, the next step will be a production run of softcover books. The hardcovers will come after the launch. For those who wrote stories, we can send a softcover or, you can wait for the hardcovers. Let us know.
We do expect some attending the book signing to come from out of state and will reserve a block of rooms. Please let us know if you will need a room.
It is exciting times around here, almost at the end.

Yesterday proved to be very productive. Had a great meeting/status report with my publicist Gina McKenzie, Gem Public Relations, she has certainly done her due diligence. She has sent out my press kit to many wonderful outlets, Military Publications, Morning and Network TV, Radio, and Print and Digital Magazines. She has potential book signings with Military and Veterans Organizations, Bookstores and Libraries, Civic and Community Organizations with lots of dates to keep in mind, just to get us off and running. What an exciting time. 🙌 Lots more to come, so stay tuned🤩

We have some great news for you, we signed off the release for the manuscript for, How I Found Love, today - a long process with innumerable details, but with the help of many people, we got that done. Monday it goes to the graphic designer who will turn it into a book. We could see a proof in 2-3 weeks with a few more weeks for review , a hard cover proof and review. Then production runs for hard and soft covers.
We’re working on a date for the book signing and will let you know soon. Our venue construction is not completed and the book isn’t ready yet. So we have to allow for a little slippage. I believe we are into June; let me know of any considerations. We are thinking a weekday because of so many other weekend activities.

We are making out the invitation list for the book signing event in St Marys at the end of next month and would like to know if you would like to be included.
Secondly, would you like to order a book to bring to be signed at the affair.
Some are taking advantage of buying multiple copies to use as gifts, and while we won't know the exact price until it is completed, we expect the cost for softcover books from the publisher to be $10-11 plus postage. The cost from Amazon will be much higher. To order one or more books, we need the number, your email, and mailing address. You will be billed by the publisher for the books and postage.
Let us know if you would like a room, we’ll reserve a block of rooms for those from out of the area. We’ll have refreshments and drinks at the event.

Good morning everyone, now that we have turned in the third round of the audit process, we should get a realistic publication date for our new book, How I Found Love, soon. We can then set the book signing date. It will be at the new events center in St Marys, Santa Maria.
We’ll have free books at the book signing for those who submitted a story for the book and for those who have written reviews for our second book, Shaking Up The World, for Amazon.

The first thing to know about my books is that royalties from my books go to charity, not me, and our next book, How I Found Love, is so important, we have gone to great expense for a public relations expert to let the world know about it. There is nothing more important than relationships, nothing, and love is the ultimate relationship. It will not be an expensive book. Because of the nature of our next book and the fact that 8 authors honored me by contributing stories for it, we have engaged a top-notch PR agent to represent our book, How I Found Love. She is located in the Atlanta area, and some of her clients have been: TNT, TBS, TCM, RYOBI, and many books, including former Governor Deal's. She has worked with national media with clients on TV shows. She loves our book, and her aggressive campaign is impressive. It is too long for me to share, but maybe Rachel can include portions of it for you later this week.
I had to get this out to you. I'm so excited that she loves our book and sees a good future for it. Are you excited too?
Book Reviews 2/21/2026
Hello Everybody, Amazon removed another of our reviews, but another was added to keep us at 44. We need to get to 50, at least. Please get family or friends to help with this.
Rachel, my nurse, and I had a very eventful day yesterday, and if you follow us on Facebook, you know we do a fun video called Fishing Friday. Well, our goal yesterday was to catch and release 5 bass which was accomplished. Nice sized ones too.
However, a sudden wind gust blew my walker, two rods, my tray of plastic worms, my needled nose pliers, and my glasses into the pond. Rachel grabbed our net and rescued the two rods. She then went to the barn and found a rake which she used to find the walker with a few things still in the pocket. So, the only thing of consequence we lost was my glasses,.but my backup ones are okay. The fact that the water level in the lake is low right now because of the severe drought was a factor in our favor even though the water was murky. Hey, just another day on David’s pond where Charlie and I went overboard once and USNA swim lessens saved us.

Hello everybody!
This is to let you know that we have received part one of our new book. How I Found Love, sub titled,True Stories of Love and Relationships. Our editor has marked it up and made suggestions that we will address later this week as we deal with another busy week, but thank you for those who presented stories for this book. We are told it will be one of inspiration for many.
With all of the podcasts we have done, we have gained a reputation now as a “storyteller “ and are in somewhat of a demand, booked into July and many want us to come back to talk about book #3., This is crazy, I never imagined this would happen, but this 92 year old stays busy, and hope we’ll someday sell lots of books for our Chair.
Remember book #4, Close Calls, for our 2027 efforts, we have 10 stories and need 30. Please send me your story. This will be a fun read. We are creating a real legacy of our class. Be a part of it. Jim, the pseudo storyteller!
Audiobook 1/28/2026
Hello everybody, I’m please to inform you, for real, ACX (Amazon audio) has sent ten dollars and change to the Foundation for our chair account. We’ll soon be able to sponsor two chairs. Anyway, nice to hear the audios are selling- greatly reduced price right now if you want to order some for friends.
Still no edited copy of our new book yet, but we are getting requests to do radio reviews on it, and we are getting booked into July for all books, one is an hour and a half. We did our first talk about the love stories last week. Kind of fun to talk about the new stories.

Hello everybody, I’m so excited I’m about to jump out of my skin! The stories we have received so far this week are extraordinary: one was a radio DJ, On The Air. How he met his wife: a man and wife swept out to sea from a Mexico beach who found enduring love; a relationship of two fishing buddies - these stories were so well written, you would not want to change a word.
Many of you have submitted a story, but if you want your story preserved in a book for your family, send it. I think we are coming up with a significant book.
You guys have me hopping: audiobook production for book one; marketing with podcasts plus for book 2; and creation of book 3. Anything else you want me to do? Other than shut up and sit down!

Thanks everybody for your response. This company could be a scam, and we’ll pass on their usage. I have paid for a few more reviews, and one fun observation, the woman that delivers my weekly groceries from Publix bought a copy of our book and had me sign it. Check the reviews on Amazon, the woman holding a copy of our book is my delivery lady - how cool is that. As for advertising, every phone call, doctor visit, or anyone I come in contact with I tell them about our book- that works a little bit. Try it and I’ll buy you a beer. Jim

Radio Interviews 9/8
Hello everybody, as I was busy on the desktop today, I found a list of the radio interviews that Rachel has scheduled for me, and after counting them, I was astounded at the number. I was just doing them, not counting them, but my estimate is that there will be over 30 by the end of the year. Leah will have to tell us if they are selling books, I don’t know, which is our goal.
We still have audiobooks to give away as promotions, please send emails of anyone you would like to receive one. We could use more reviews - I have paid to get a few more. It kills me to see our book languishing without them. This is too important a book to fade away. I’ll never quit fighting for it. Jim
Audiobooks 8/29
Now that we have an audiobook, Amazon has given us books to give away as promotions, and we have 25 for the US and 25 for the UK.
If you would like a free audiobook send us your email and the verbal agreement to do a review (as that is a requirement from Amazon). If you have a story in the book you cannot do a review. We have given out 12 of those to date.
For the UK books, we have sent one to Okinawa. If you have friends overseas, send us their emails and we'll get them a free book.
With the holidays coming up and a literary festival in January, we plan to provide a few books, and since a minimum run is 16, we plan to add on any that classmates might want to include in the run.

Good morning everybody. With the availability of audiobooks now, Shaking has a new beginning - our efforts have paid off. With the 25 free audiobooks Amazon has given us, we can grow reviews quickly to enhance our book.
Their is another aspect I want to mention, Amazon has also given us 25 free books for the UK - so we need to ask classmates if we have friends or relatives who might receive one of these books. I know no one there, but who does? It would be nice to give away some of these books to gain traction over seas. Can you help?
